The condition of mankind at the end of the time is described by St. Mathew in the following passage: "As in the days of Hoe, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating, and drinking, and marrying and giving in marriages until the day that Noe entered into the ark, so also shall the coming of the Son Man be." Matt. xxiv:37,38.

Lawlessness and impiety will become so great that the threatening signs of the approaching end will not be heeded. A general falling away, then, will be the prevailing condition of men in those days; in the words of the apostle Paul; "Let no man deceive you by any means, for that day shall not come except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that he sits in the temple of God." 2 Thess. ii:3,4.

Our Lord Himself gives another sign, and important one indeed, that is, that "the Gospel should be preached among all the nations." Matt. xxiv:14.

"And then shall the wicked one be revealed." 2 Thess. ii:8
